Digital Shift

Digital Shift

Digital Shift, is a concept explored in the anime series Digimon and though seen very little has been explored in Digimon though various forms, card games, video games, tv shows, digivices, etc. Its title varies, however it explores the same concept, that is not to be confused with digivolve or any other form of digital evolution/digivolving/evolving/biodigivolving/etc. A "Digital Shift" takes place when a digimon becomes an alternate form of itself or its next evolutionary state contrary to its natural/normal evolution. It is debated whether "dark digivolving (dark evolution)" (found under digivolve), such as agumon's dark evolution to skullgreymon rather than greymon can be categorized as a digital shift. The most recent thought example of a digital shift is in the series: Digimon Savers. During Episode 24 a flashback shows Saberleomon fighting humans and then suddenly after being pushed back comes back as Mercurimon. Whether this is a digital shift has yet to be decided. In each Digimon season/series there is AT LEAST one given example of a digital shift, including series 2 where they had alternative evolutions (this is also an example of a digital shift, however it is exemplified as slide evolution, which only specifically covers the events of those instances).
