Graham Manou

Graham Manou

Graham Allan Manou (born 23 April, 1979) in Modbury, South Australia, is an Australian cricketer who plays for the Southern Redbacks in Australian domestic cricket. He is a wicketkeeper and aggressive right handed batsman who has taken more dismissals than any other South Australian player in One Day domestic cricket. In the longer version of the game he is their 3rd most successful keeper.

Manou was a highly successful junior cricketer, highlighted by the fact that he won the Player of the Tournament award when captaining South Australia at the 1997-98 national under-19 carnival. He made his first class debut in the summer of 1999-2000, replacing the retired Tim Nielsen in the side as keeper. Although he impressed with the gloves he struggled with the bat as he scored ducks in four of his first five innings. His first big score was 130 as an opener in 2003-04. Manou has now impressed with a score of 190 against Tasmania in the 2007-08 season.

He was appointed vice-captain of the Redbacks in 2004-05 and when Darren Lehmann was either on national duty or injured he would be the stand in captain. He led from the front with 433 runs and 36 dismissals. In 2005-06 he took a personal best of 42 Pura Cup dismissals along with 21 in the ING Cup. With the bat he has twice collected $50,000 for his team by hitting the ING sign on the fence (on the full).

Manou's partner is Australian athlete Tamsyn Lewis [ [http://www.athletics.com.au/news/media_resources/2008_season_guide Athletics Australia - Season Guide 2007/08] ] .
