Michael Murphy Born 4 September 1986 Origin Taupo, New Zealand Genres Pop/Rock Years active 2004–present Michael Murphy (born Michael Sean D'Arcy Murphy on 4 September 1986, in Taupo, New Zealand) is a singer and New Zealand Idol runner-up for 2004. Right from the start of the competition, Michael was a hot favourite with the majority of the voters being female and aged between 11-17. He was beaten to the post by Ben Lummis, with whom he formed the closest bond throughout the series.

Biography
Michael was persuaded to enter the competition by his mother, Nikki. His father, Sean, along with his younger sister, Suzy and younger brother, Chris, have also been big supporters.
5star Fallout
As of 2006, Michael has joined his former Deadset bandmates to form the band 5star Fallout, and is now the lead singer. The band has released a single, "Seasons", that has been well received by Michael's fans, and the ZM radio station, with the song winning the "ZM deathmatch" 7 times in a row. The band members are John, Adam, Andrew, Pete and Murphy. The band broke up a few years later.
