Gwin

Gwin

Gwin is a horned marten, belonging to Dustfinger, a fictional character from Cornelia Funke's "Inkheart" trilogy. He is essential to the original plot of Inkheart that Fenoglio wrote. He is the cause of Dustfinger's death

Gwin is somewhat ill-tempered and has taken a liking to Farid, Dustfinger's apprentice, who Mo read out of "The Book of One Thousand and One Nights". Dustfinger and Gwin, along with the evil Capricorn and Basta, are accidentally read out of the book they came from (also called Inkheart) by Mortimer Folchart, most commonly as "Mo" and "Silvertongue." In this novel, written by a character named Fenoglio, Gwin was to be the cause of Dustfinger's death, when some of Capricorn's men were trying to kill Gwin. Dustfinger tried to save his pet, so the men simply killed him. However, he was read out of Inkheart before such a thing could happen. But Dustfinger wants to go back into Inkheart, although Silvertongue says he cannot do because he knows of Dustfinger's death and wants to save him.
