Black Moclips

"Black Moclips" is a stocky and formidable airship in the Voyage of the Jerle Shannara series of Shannara books by Terry Brooks.

History

The "Black Moclips" belonged to many different owners. The airship is initially a Federation ship flown by the Rover Redden Alt Mer, or "Big Red" on the Prekkendorran against the elves. Big Red flies it about 100 times without being taken down. Then, the airship passes to the control of the Ilse Witch, complements of Sen Dunsidan, a high-ranking Federation official. The Ilse Witch uses "Black Moclips" to give chase to another airship, the "Jerle Shannara", the two airships going across the Blue Divide to Parkasia.

In Parkasia, Rue Meridian, Big Red's half-sister, steals the airship when the Ilse Witch is gone and her Mwellrets and Federation soldiers are left to guard the ship. Rue is forced to abandon the airship when the Morgawr chases her own with his own fleet of airships, which is approximately two-dozen strong. Ryer Ord Star is killed by the Morgawr for helping Ahren Elessedil escape the ship by way of an air glider. "Black Moclips" is later stolen from the Morgawr by Big Red on the island of Mephitic, and the Rover uses the durable ship to take down the whole fleet of the Morgawr. Black Moclips is destroyed, but Big Red emerges on another hidden air glider, the only survivor.
