California Cultures in Comparative Perspective

California Cultures in Comparative Perspective is a centre based at the Department of Ethnic Studies, in the University of California, San Diego in California.

The California Cultures initiative [http://calcultures.ucsd.edu/index.php is expected to] "be a cutting-edge center of creative, interdisciplinary research, teaching, and collaboration among faculty, students, and the public to explore the broad implications of the history and current growth of the state's immigrant and people of color populations. As California is now a 'majority minority' state, this focus becomes even more important."

Its director is David Naguib Pellow and its associate director is Jorge (George) Mariscal.
