The Aviators won the series between these two teams 2-1 giving them first place in the APFL and the Koyotes second. The Aviators had earned the right to host the Championship game in Wichita on July 29th, 2006.
However, the APFL announced a move of the championship game to Topeka on August 5. This presented a hardship for players on both sides, as the season was scheduled to end on July 29. The league owner, also owner of both teams, decided to award the championship to the Koyotes, the game was never played.

The team appears to be coming back from hiatus to play in the American Developmental Football League, a developmental league operated by the APFL. [http://www.hometeamsonline.com/adfl]
However, scheduled tryouts did not occur due to lack of attendance, and the league appears to have folded.
