Kel Knight is a fictional character in the Australian television show Kath & Kim, portrayed by comic actor Glenn Robbins.

Kel comes across as an honest, respectable, reliable man who finds out he has many talents throughout the episodes. Kel Knight is a gourmet butcher, of Kel's Fine Meats at Fountain Gate Shopping Centre, and is married to Kath Day-Knight, played by Jane Turner.He is a Sydney Swans supporter, much to the annoyance of Kath who supports Richmond Tigers. He is somewhat sexually ambiguous and is seen as a metrosexual.

Recurring gags and Features

Almost every character on the show has humour, and Kel certainly isn't without his own.

*Manbag - often throughout the series Kel, quite possibly a metrosexual, is usually seen with his manbag. One humorous event is shown in the 7th episode of series two, where Kel and his friend, Sandy are play fighting, where Kel says to stop being weak, girlish and become a man. After the play fight Kel is looking for his manbag, not exactly a masculine feature, so represents a satirical gesture.

*Short shorts - Kel is often seen wearing a pair of small shorts, way above the kneeline when he is powerwalking.

*Bryce Courtenay - One of Kel's many interests is books and he seems to have a soft spot for the South African author Bryce Courtenay. This is evident in many episodes, for example in Episode 3, he is reading The Power of One at a butchers convention (failing to make communication with the other butchers, thus pulls out his book). In Episode 4, he references the author twice: Kath is reading the 'Anti Candida' diet book, and Kel mentions the author Bryce Courtenay, although Bryce didn't actually write the book (far from his genre). Later on, Kel complains of Kath participating in the musical The Hours (Kath recommends he joins the play, in which he does, this was due to the fact that they had busy schedules, looking for some time to spend together). Kath explains to Kel that it was a book/movie adaptation in which Kel responds "That was that Bryce Courtenay book,wasn't it?", however Bryce did not write this book either,and in series 4 when Kath, Kim, Kel and Sharon were playing Trivial Pursuit Kath asked Kel who wrote Captain Underpants he replied Bryce Courtenay.
