village andcivil parish in the Chichester district ofWest Sussex ,England , within the LowWeald . TheWey and Arun Canal passes to the East and South of the village.The 2001 census recorded a population of 1341 people living in 660 households. 536 people were economically active.
There is a primary school, village hall, children's playing facilities, a sports centre, two churches, a pub "The Onslow Arms" and a small number of shops.
The village was once the centre for a small Christian
sect , theSociety of Dependents , also known as Cokelers. They built their first chapel in the village.chools
Loxwood Primary School was reported to have 155 children on the school roll in 2001 [cite web | title=Ofsted report for Loxwood Primary School | url=http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/reports/pdf/?inspectionNumber=193111&providerCategoryID=16&fileName=\school\125\s10_125845_20011005.pdf | accessdate=2007-01-11] . However many of these children are actually not from Loxwood itself, and are instead from surrounding villages, this has been attributed to the closing of other, adjacent, village schools. A nursery school is adjacent to the school.
Football
They have an improving football team which has been promoted 6 times in 9 years. Mr George Read, Mr Derek Waterman and Mr Alan Lambkin have kept the club running through the years. The manager is Barry Hunter. They are now in Sussex county league division 2. The club play at plaistow road
