"Banoo Main Teri Dulhann" is an Indian soap opera that airs on Zee TV. The serial deals with the life of a small city girl, Vidya, who reaches Delhi after marrying Sagar, a rich businessman.

Banoo Main Teri Dulhann completed the 500 episodes as of July 23, 2008.

Banoo Main Teri Dulhann is a story about Vidya, a simple naive village girl from Benareas. Vidya has a perfect fairytale wedding, perfect father and mother-in-law, but Destiny has something else in store for her. Vidya's married life is full of ups and downs. She figures out she is marrying a mentally challenged guy (Sagar Pratap Singh) and he refuses to take her side. Vidya soon enough gains the love of Sagar and she soon helps him recover. Although Sagar doesnt seem to remember Vidya. Vidya battles on with Sagar's half sister Sindoora and soon proves to Sagar of their previous relationship together. When Sagar finally realizes that his sister Sindoora is responsible for his ill-health issues, he and Vidya plot against Sindoora but are unfortunately murdered by her. Sagar and Vidya return and get recarminated as Amar and Divya and once again, Divya tries to prove to Amar that his 'Badi Maa' is the cause of their previous death and she is his real enemy. Sindoora later on will find try to kill her own son.

Characters

Sindoora Singh (age 61)

Sindoora is Sagar's step-sister and sister of Chandra and Mahua. She is the eldest of the four siblings. She had caused Sagar's accident. She hates Vidya and tries to make her life a living hell. She also has a son named Bharat and a husband named Ankeit. Bharat is an eldest child, of about 33 yrs age -- both he and his father are good and help Vidya against Sindoora. As part of her efforts to improve Sagar's health, Vidhya goes with him to Singapore. When Sindoora hears of this, she hires Singaporean gangsters to kidnap Sagar, however, the effort fails - largely in part due to Vidhya's presence of mind and sense of purpose in keeping her husband alive. Despite being a village girl, she time and again comes out one better in the umpteen battles against Sindoora. After Sagar regains his mental composure, he and Vidhya are happy. Ultimately when Vidya discovers the true personality behind all the attacks on herself and Sagar and eventually convinces Sagar about it, they try their best to run from Sindoora's men. However, Sindoora does prevail in killing both Vidhya and Sagar.

Eight months later Mahua gaves birth to a boy (who is later revealed to be the reincarnation of Sagar). After hearing a prophecy told by the priest foretelling Sindoora's downfall once this boy reaches the age of 21, Neha offers to take care of the boy who she names Samrat, later Samrat is her son. Later she learns that Samrat isn't actually Mauha and Rajeev's child. The child born to Mahua had been switched at birth by Rajeev who was aware of Sindoora's scheming. Their child is raised as Amar in Banares where our story continues. It is here that Amar meets Divya who is also a look-a-like reincarnation of Vidya.

Lately she has been trying to create hurdles in Amar and Divya's marriage and doesn't give up until she fully convinces Amar that Divya is not worth being his wife. But Amar doesn't believe her.sindoora is now in a mental state, because amar, divya and bharat did some planning to scare her saying that amar is back, but when she sees amar everytime, she runs out and bharat says that no one is here,sindoora still suspect that something is wrong, so one day she suspected bharat that he is helping the two, but when she plays some tape, its was a bagan, so now she knows that bharat is good. Sindoora is now dead as of October 9, 2008

Chandra Singh (age 48)

Chandra is the youngest sister of the three and is married to Harsh. Unknown to her, Harsh had bad intentions for Vidya before her marriage to Sagar and is stealing money from Chandra. Chandra makes Vidya's life miserable and likes to torment her. Recently Chandra was very upset that Sagar told Harsh to leave the house. Now that Harsh has come back with a new face, she thinks that it really is Harsh. Chandra thinks that Harsh does not love her. When she finds out that this new Harsh is in turn Rajiv and is in love with Mahua she overreacts. She really thought he was the old Harsh and wanted to renew their relationship. Harsh is taken to jail temporarily only to be released in the promised two weeks. Chandra begins plotting in earnest thinking that if she can't have Harsh then Mahua cannot. In secret, Sindoora used this as an opportunity to coach Chandra against Vidya. She is now a supporter of Sindoora. She was ordered by Sindoora to take a blood test from Kamna (Chinu and Shalu's daughter) while she fell asleep, and proves that Kamna is pregnant. She is also very sad when her ex-husband Rajeev died. While she is giving out Rajeev's clothes to the poor people at the temple, she sees Rajeev. She is interrupted by the poor people and she loses track of Rajeev. However after much difficulty she finds Rajiv in ragged clothes walking around in the streets and it is revealed to Chandra that Rajiv s suffering from Amnesia and does not remember anything. She denies the fact that she actually knows Rajeev and his real identity, but takes him to a home and takes care of him. She wants to win his love. She is now married to Rajeev who has disappeared recently.

Rajeev (age 54)

Rajeev is the husband of Mahua and now the father of Samrat (he is really the father of Amar but at the hospital he switched the kids). Rajeev had first come into the plot line pretending to be Harsh. Harsh had told him the stories of himself while he was in the Singh household. Rajeev had entered the house stating the he is Harsh and had gotten into a bad accident causing him to get Facial reconstruction. The family members are still skeptical about his real identity, but finally let him enter after Chandra says that she will leave the house if the family members do not accept that he is Harsh. While Rajeev is living in the household, he ends up falling madly in love with Mahua. Mahua ends up falling for him, but does not want to betray Chandra. He tells Mahua the truth abut who he is and that he was framed for a crime the real Harsh committed posing as Rajeev. Finally he reveals the truth to the family. Vidya stands up for him when everybody is against him. He gets sent to jail for Harsh's crime for a few weeks, and is released. He and Mahua get married, everyone thanks Vidya It is for this reason that Rajeev has taken a special liking to Vidya. A Pundit Jee had predicted that a child who will be born in their house will be the end of Sindoora. Rajeev had to make a promise to Sindoora in order to save his son from being killed by Sindoora. The promise was that Sindoora would raise his child as she would a kid of her own (without Mahua and him interfering). Rajeev's real son is Amar (reincarnation of Sagar) but he exchanges Amar for another child who was just born (who Sindoora names Samrat) in the delivery room. When Rajeev went to switch the kids back after making the promise, he ended up finding out that the family had left and gone back to their home in Benaras. He decides that he will never tell Mahua about the change, but Mahua finds out from Sindoora. He came to an alley way to see Divya and tell her all about Sindoora and her truth, but Samrat comes instead and stabs Rajjev with a pole and runs away. Later, Sindoora pushes him off a cliff and into the water and is thought to have died. He is now shown to have forgotten everything but is planning to go back home and tell vidya to be safe and aware of sindoora's plan.

He goes in disguise as a plumber into Divya's house and then tells her to be aware of Sindoora's plan and keep him updated of all the things happening in the house. He has been kidnapped by Sindoora after she found out that he was still alive after following Chandra who often goes to meet him. He is now married to Chandra in order to save Divya from Sindoora's clutches. He dissapeared recently.

Mahua Singh (age 52)

Mahua is Sindura's sister she used to be married to kartik but after his affar with surily and when everyone found out he got kicked out. she then found out that she had feelings for harsh who turns out is not harsh but actully Rajiv who is pretending to be harsh. after the family finds out they except rajiv and mauha marries him they have a son (who is the reincarnated version of sagar) who without her knowing rajiv switched the babies because sindora had found out that the next born will put her to end when Rajiv heard this he switched the babies and before he could switch them back the family left with his baby so rajiv doesn't tell mahua or any body that he switch the babys. 21 years later Maua finds out from Sindura about the switch. she currently thinks Rajeev's dead and is acting like a widow she also accepted amar as a son. Mahua is angry at Divya because she thinks that Divya is the reason that Rajiv died. She asks Chandra to give out Rajeev's clothes at the mandir because the pandit said to. The directors changed Mahua. She is still mourning after Rajeev's death.

Hema Chachi (age 78)

Hema Chachi is Shalu's mother, Chinu's mother-in-law Kamna's maternal grandmother, and Vidya's chachi. She was shown as going crazy for two months and has finally recovered.

amrat (age 21)

Rajeev and Mahua's so called son (he's a fraud and cheating spider) but originally a biological son of Amar's parents. He was switched by Rajeev after his birth so that Sindoora cannot harm Rajeev's real son who is Amar the reincarnation of Sagar. His name was given by Sindoora and he was raised by Sindoora as an agreement between Sindoora with Rajeev and Mahua, that Sindoora will not harm him and will let him live. He plans to get married with Divya for money but Sindoora is planning something else. He is falsely pretending to be in love with Kamna(Chinu's daughter) and now Kamna is pregnant with his child. He recently asked Divya to marry him because he wants her money, and she agreed.Samrat gets mad when he hears that Divya loves Amar. Eventually, everyone finds out about his evil scheme and Divya ditches him, and so does Kamna.when amar and divya were about to leave the house sindoora told amar that he is the heir of the house,everyone is shock including samrat who took out his gun to shoot amar but divya went in front of amar and accientally got shot by samrat which wasn't really samrat who pull the trigger it was actually sindoora who went in front of samrat trying to hold back the gun and shot divya. He is currently in jail and wants Sindoora to come meet him because he "knows everything."Instigated by Sindoora he takes his revenge after being released from jail by stabbing Rajeev with a rod and running away leting divya take the entire blame of Rajeev's death. He is now engaged to Kamna. He plans to get Divya by using Kamna. He is the one who kidnapped Kamna at the day Kamna and him were getting married. His real colours were exposed in front of the family by Divya and they throw Samrat out of their house but before leaving he claims that Sindoora is the one who is responsible for his upbringing and that she hates Amar as much as he does. However no one belives him except Divya. Samart never gets married to Divya and left after the truth about him was exposed to Amar.

Kamna (age 21)

Chinu and Shalu's daughter who was brought up by Hema Chachi and Chacha. She's in love with Samrat ever since she was a kid and falsely believes that Samrat is in love with her. Hema wants her to get close to Samrat to get his money. Sindoora wants him to get close to her to take his mind off of Divya. Once she was persuaded by Samrat to do intimate relationship with Samrat but she refused to do so as they are not married, however when she was asked to do it the second time she gave herself to Samrat, now she is pregnant with Samrat's child,however, samrat is getting married to divya.After knowing Samrat's true colours she stnds up bravely and accuses Samrat of all the misdeeds he has done to her including the fact that she is pregnant with his child in front of the whole family and breaks all ties with him but stll safeguarding his child. She is now engaged to Samrat. To everyone she ranaway from her marrige, but in reality Samrat kidnapped her and has her hidden. Recently she is found by Divya and Samrat is exposed in front of the whole family. Amar sends her to Shimla so that she can lead a peacfull life with her child.

Aniket (age 66)

Aniket is Sindora's husband and Bharat's father. He came to Mumbai at the age of 45. He supports Sagar's and Vidya's relationship. Aniket was paralyzed due to an aciident. After 2 years, Aniket feels well, but Sindoora claims that he is mentally unstable and sends him to a mental institution.Bharat finds aniket in a bedroom and aniket is having a breakdown and bharat says "dont worry papa your bharat is back"aniket looks shokd

After 21 years, Aniket is 66 years old (45+21=66). Sindoora see's Aniket after the leap and Aniket curses her about killing Sagar & Vidya and because of this security took him away. Once day, Divya and Samrat driving the car, when Divya goes to road, Aniket looks at her, but she doesn't know who is he. One day, Sindura, Rajeev, Mahua go to the temple of Banaras. Aniket somehow manages to find her and when they meet, he yells out to everyone, "Sindoora murdered my brother-in-law and his wife". The security intervenes and takes him back to the mental institution.

He is then seen again and saved by his son Bharat.

Kausalya (age 75)

She is Vidya's mother, never seen after Vidya and Sagar get married.

Rajendra (age 90)

He is Sagar's father who died. He supported Vidya.

Uma (age 82)

Uma is the mother of Sagar and the wife of Bade Thakur. Ever since Sagar and Vidya's death she believes that her son and vidya will come back again. everyone thinks she is in a mental state and therefore keeps her locked in her room and Sindoora keeps on giving sleeping doses so that she can never reveal the truth and to make her go to Coma.

Chintu (about the age of 13)

Chintu is Amar's sweet and funny and lovely younger brother who loves to meddle in Amar's life. He knows that Amar is in love with Divya and convinces him of it. He has a bad condition and faints a lot, so he needs an expensive operation. Divya tries to pay for it, but since Amar an his family is mad at her, they refuse to accept it. Amar makes a deal with Bindiya's dad to marry Bindiya in exchange for the money. Chintu thinks it's a bad idea since Amar truly loves Divya.Since Amar and Divya are now married Chintu goes to school in Mumbai where Sagar and Vidya used to live. He is a very possitive character and he is true & loyal to his Divya Bhabi.One day chintu went to the old barn and saw kamna.samart theratens him by saying "i will kill you if you tell to everybody about this".chintu is not in the drama anymore.after bharat came home .

halu (age 46)

Recently disappeared in a car accident with Chinu. Left a daughter (Kamna) with her parents, Hema and her father. She provided comic relief along with her mother. She and Chinu may be dead.

Chinu (age 50)

His name is Chimnay Singh, Sagar's cousin, Shalu's husband. He was a big help with vidya and sagar he loved sagar and vidya a lot and after they died he decideed to leave. He leaves Kamna with his mother in law (Hema chaichi) then he disappeared in car accident along with Shalu.

Divya (previous Vidya age 21)

Vidya was murdered by Sindoora after days of being chased along with her husband Sagar. She is however reborn as the modern girl, Divya 21 years later. Divya's rich parents are dead so she inherited all the money. Samrat is set to marry Divya because of her money. Sindoora is trying to stop him as she truly believes Divya is Vidya and is out to get her. Divya sets out for agra but by mistake she reaches Banaras-the place where it all started. There she gets cheated and loses all the money she had. Sagar is also born as a guide in Benaras named Amar. Quarrel breaks out between the two of them when Amar accidentally pushes Divya into the river. But ultimately both of them become friends again. Divya keeps remembering things that Vidya used to do even though Divya herself never did them. She falls in love with Amar, without knowing, but doesn't tell him because Bindiya, Amar's childhood friend, is in love with him too. After Divya stops Bindiya from committing suicide, she promises to leave them alone. She is rude to Amar and his family so they forget about her. When she finds out Amar is engaged to Bindiya, she accepts Samrat's purposal, not knowing what he did with Kamna. However after kamna tells Amar the truth about her relationship with samrat the wedding is stopped and vidya is left in a shock with the rest of the family. And soon two months are going to end and divya and amar are soon going to remember there past life, about sagar, vidya, and there death from sindoora. Will they beable to live or will they be defeated once again from sindoora.divya survive from the gun shot and soon got engage to amar. She recently got married to amar as rajeev told her. Soon sindoora blames her for the death of rajeev. Currently she has realized that she was Vidya in her previous life with Sagar(Amar) as her husband, she is trying to discover th mystery's of her past lfe as Rajeev had instructed her. Soon after she recollects all the lost memories of her past life and she is trying to prove to Amar of Sindoora's true colours by bringing back incidents of his past life so he will also recollect and realize the truth. But currently she is unsuccesful in reviving Amar's past. She is trying to prove Sindoora wrong but fails everytime. Amar doesn't belive her at all. Recently she has joined hands with Bharat to expose Sindoora in front of Amar and with the help of Bharat Divya helps Amar remember his past life after a very dangerous plan and aamar nearly dieing hehe.

She overheard a conversation between Sindoora and the Guruji saying that Sindoora would have to come to and end but when she dies either Amar or Divya has to die. She didn't tell Amar about this but is trying to make him not want to destroy Sindoora so either of them doesn't have to die. Since Amar doesn't know about the prediction he doesn't really bother with it and just think's she is scared.

Bharat (age 33)

Bharat is a Son of Aniket & Sindura.He loved Vidya and had a strong relationship with her Chinu and Sagar he also helps her with her daily troubles when surily was around. After the death of Sagar and Vidya He is never seen again for 21 years! He was mentioned by Divya, because she didn't know who he was in a photo, and Sindura said that that was her son and she looked disappointed. 21 yrs later, Bharat is back as an Adult and wants to ruin Sindaura's life as he still remembers the way his mom had tortured his whole family. And now, he has joined hands with Divya and Amar. He is married to Additi. He applied the vermillion (sindoor) to Aditi's head.

Amar (previous Sagar age 22)

After he and his wife, Vidya, being murdered by Sindoora, Sagar is reincarnated as Amar along with his wife "Vidya" being reborned as Divya from London, Amar is the real son of Rajeev and Mahua but was switched by Rajeev with Samrat when he was born so that Sindoora cannot harm him, the best tour guide in Benaras, King of Shiva. Then he meets Divya and has a fight with her in Banaras after accidentally pushing her in the river. After making up they become very good friends. Whenever he is with her, he get blurry flashbacks of their previous life together. He soon falls in love with her. However, Bindiya (Amar's childhood friend) becomes jealous of Divya. Divya stops Bindiya's suicide attempt, and to ensure she doesn't do it again, Divya hurts Amar's feelings and insults his family before leaving for Delhi, so that Amar and his family would forget about her and look to Bindiya instead. He gets angry at Divya and refuses to accept her money for Chintu's operation. To pay for it, he makes a deal with Bindya's dad: the money for his marriage to Bindiya. Bindiya finds out the truth, and tells about her and Divya's promise. Amar comes to Delhi to find Divya. He gets a job as a waiter at a party in Sindoora's household which is the engagement party of Divya and Samrat, where most serial actors/actresses come to dance to the Om Shanti Om theme song. During this party Amar was accused by Sindoora that he stole something from the house which was a plot of Sindoora. Later Sindoora sent other guys to kill Amar and Amar get buried later one man takes Amar out of the Grave. After he gets out he starts to search for divya with the help of the man. They cross each other until finally they meet up. Amar finds out that rajeev is his real father but is not very happy about it. Amar and Divya are engaged and now married. When Amar and Divya get home after they get married, they find a dead body in a white sheet, and everybody crowded over it and sobbing. Amar and Divya become suspicious and ask what's going on. Sindoora tells them that Rajeev is dead and they cannot believe it. Amar lifts the sheet and it reveals Rajeev's disfigured face. Amar yells and sobs and regrets that he was so rude to his real father, Rajeev. amar find about his past life from sindoora and divya and dosnt care about it. He is sill in love with divya no matter what sindoora says. He now hates Divya because he believes she is married to Virun. He does everything Sindoora says and might give Divya a Divorce. But things take a turn when he finds out that Viren was just doing this because someone told him too. He did not find out that was Sindoora. Sindoora hires men to hurt Amar. Amar falls out of a building and while he falls he gets flashbacks about Sagar and Vidya.

After this he remembers everything. He, Bharat and Divya go out to look for the tape they had to prove that Sindoora killed them. They find it. They want to take it to court.

He plays with Sindoora's mind and almost makes her go crazy.

Viren (age 25)

Viren is the man hired by Sindoora to create a rift between Amar and Divya. He was Divya's college friend who had now come to India and claimed with proof supplied by Sindoora that before marrying Amar, Divya was in fact already married to him and had left him because he was poor and when she found this out she returned to India in search for a rich husband. He is an alcoholic which is the reason of him being exposed in front of Amar and is thrown out of the house.

Aditi (age 21)

Aditi is Bharats supposed wife. She is very much like the old Vidya, simple and naive. Bharat slowly falls in love with her later on, and soon really get married as he is circumstances force him to apply vermillion (sindoor) to her forehead. Though currently they try to give each other room, they are beginning to fall in love as well.

Karan (age 21)

Karan is Aditi's abusive husband. Bharat later saves Aditi when Karan was trying to burn her alive. He was seen again when Divya and Aditi went shopping and he is looking for Aditi. However he did not see her.

Bindiya (age 21)

She is Amar's best friend. She is jealous of Divya and Amar. She even tried to kill Divya by mixing rat poison in Divya's pakoras. She secretly loves Amar, but just earlier, after Amar made a deal with Bindiya's father, they got engaged. The deal was that if Amar would get married to Bindiya, then he would give Amar 50,000-75,000 rupees for Chintu's treatment. Bindiya finds out about the deal and also tells Amar about her deal. He leaves to go to Delhi. After that she was only once seen again when Rajeev came asking for Amar in Benaras.
