1991 Italian motorcycle Grand Prix

The 1991 Italian motorcycle Grand Prix was the fifth race of the 1991 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season. It took place on the weekend of 17th19th May, 1991 at the Misano circuit.

500 cc race report

Wayne Gardner falls in practice and breaks his foot. Wayne Rainey on pole, Mick Doohan 1 second back on the 2nd row.

Eddie Lawson gets the first turn, then Doohan and Rainey. The lead trio get aggressive, and Rainey and Doohan drop Lawson, with John Kocinski in 4th.

Rainey and Doohan are in the middle of a great duel, but Rainey has to pit with a bad rear tire. He continues to race to pick up some points. Kevin Schwantz also has tire problems but stays in the race for 7th.
