Mr. Swanson has stated that education and the health and safety of California’s children are Assemblyman Swanson’s stated top priorities in the California State Assembly. Mr. Swanson believes in building strong communities and create sustainable jobs for the future.
Pre Assembly Career
Assemblyman Swanson started the Worker to Business Owner Project for former military base workers who lost their jobs due to base closures in
Alameda County . The project trained former base workers to become business owners and provided them technical assistance. Many of these businesses now employ hundreds of workers. He also is the founder and current Chairman of the East Bay Conversion and Reinvestment Commission’s Small Business Revolving Loan Fund.Mr. Swanson lives in Alameda with his wife. He has four children and four grandchildren.
