Ceann a' Ghàraidh

Ceann a' Ghàraidh

Ceann a' Ghàraidh is a hill on the Hebridean island of Eriskay. Ceann a' Ghàraidh makes crossing the island far more difficult, because it is too steep for road construction. Therefore, cars have to follow the main island road completely around the island.

Ceann a' Ghàraidh is a port on the Southern end on Eriskay. It is here, that the port for the vehicle ferry to Barra is situated. Translated to English, Ceann a' Ghàraidh literally means "The head of the garden". It is so called due to the presence of the old crofting boundary walls at this location. These however, can no longer be seen.
