The Trivection oven is a
Convection microwave created byGeneral Electric , which combines radiantheat ,convection andmicrowave s for customizedcooking . According to GE, it cooks food five times faster than a traditional oven. The product is notable mainly for being prominently featured in the pilot of the American
situation comedy "30 Rock ", where the character ofJack Donaghy (played byAlec Baldwin ) describes the product, claiming to have invented it himself and pegging it as his "greatest triumph" after years and years ofmarket research . Jack Donaghy's description of the product is taken near verbatim from GE’s website. He later uses the oven as ametaphor for "The Girlie Show", saying thatTracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan ) is the "third heat". Also notable, is the fact that television chef and Food Network starAlton Brown host ofGood Eats was consulted in the design of the Trivection Oven.
