Galaxy AGN classification

Galaxy AGN classification

Galaxy AGN classification or galaxy active galactic nucleus classification is classification of galaxies with active galactic nuclei (AGN) in astronomy.

There are two main types of AGNs, Radio-quiet and Radio-loud, which are each broken up into further sub-types.

* Radio-quiet AGN
** Low-ionization nuclear emission-line regions (LINERs).
** Seyfert galaxies
** Radio-quiet quasars/QSOs.
** 'Quasar 2s'.
* Radio-loud AGN
** Radio-loud quasars.
** 'Blazars' (BL Lac objects and OVV quasars).
** Radio galaxies.
