- Garth Le Roux
Garth Stirling Le Roux (born 4 September 1955) in
Kenilworth ,Cape Town was aSouth African fast bowler who played 15 unofficial Tests for South Africa in the 1980s.A big and powerful fast bowler, he had a lethal bouncer. Unfortunately though for him his career took part during the time that South Africa were barred from international cricket.
He played some
World Series Cricket inAustralia during the late 70's and later played 15 unoffical "Tests" back home against rebel touring sides. He performed well taking 59 wickets at 23.06.Le Roux also had a successful county career with Sussex from 1978 to 1987. He often opened the bowling with Imran Khan for the county. In 1981 he took 81 wickets which almost led them to their maiden Championship.
In South Africa he played for Western Province, between 1976 and 1989 taking 372 wickets at an average of under 19. He was also a big hitting tailend batsman and he made 26 50's in his career.
Le Roux finished his with 838 career wickets in
First Class cricket at 21.24.On the 10th of April 2006 he appeared in Court charged with 48 counts of tax fraud involving R1.8 million. [http://content-aus.cricinfo.com/southafrica/content/story/243934.html]
