HyPerformix, Inc., based in Austin, Texas, United States is an enterprise software company that develops solutions designed to deliver business insight into IT operations. HyPerformix has trademarked Predicitve IT Management, a combination of modeling technology and best practice methodology. The insight derived from predictive IT management allows IT to plan effectively, make informed investment decisions, minimize deployment risk, and configure applications and architecture for optimial service levels. The company has 20 patents approved and pending for inventions related to analytic and simulation modeling.

Modeling technologies are widely used in manufacturing (automobiles, airplanes and ships) and essential decision support for companies with mission-critical software applications, complex IT infrastructures and for companies reducing data center footprints for cost or green initiatives. Modeling allows an exact replica to be built of a test or production system and what-if scenarios applied to determine the impact of any planned changes to the environment. Examples would be data center consolidations where 10 smaller servers might be virtualized or consolidated onto one large server or to understand the end-user response time after increasing transaction volumes on a system. IT needs to avoid risk to production systems that would result in degraded performance or downtime and modeling technologies allow them to analyze changes without risk, develop prescriptive plans for change and provide insight for decsion makers.

The basis for software model creation is load testing or performance management data that comes from tools like LoadRunner, HP OpenView or Tivoli ITM. The performance management data contains information about workload, infrastructure, flows and resources. A capacity planner or performance engineer would collect the performance management data and use it to create a "virtual" application on a computer that could be altered with "what if" scenarios. The same data could also be used for deeper analysis into potential options for systems before deployment, finding potential performance bottlenecks, understanding performance thresholds, right-sizing application infrastructure and understanding the end-to-end response time the application will deliver.
