Billed as "J.R. Rowe," Jamie and his brother,
Mikk Rowe , founded the former ChristianGlam metal band, Tempest, in the late 1980s. Their debut album, "A Coming Storm", recorded on Pure Metal Records in 1987 (unreleased on compact disc until 1999), features Jamie's melodic voice with less grit and more high, falsetto screams (a la metallurgist mentorStryper 'sMichael Sweet ) than in his later work, and the lyrics contain a straight-forward evangelical candor. Amid internal turmoil, Tempest disbanded in 1990. [http://www.rockdetector.com/artist,8921.sm TEMPEST | Rockdetector ] ]
After Tempest, Jamie joined the Los Angeles based band Guardian. Guardian became one of the most successful bands in Christian music throughout the 90's. He became widely known as a premier vocalist and performer.
