Port Bouet Airport Airport codes|ABJ|DIAP, also known as Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport or Abidjan Airport, is located in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.

In 2004, the airport served 815,403 passengers.

Information

The airport has a 3,000-meter runway, Instrument Landing System CAT3B equipment, 25 check-in counters, and nine boarding access points. AERIA, Abidjan Airport Management Company, operates and manages the whole airport area and relevant indirect services. There is a military apron at the airport. Private aircraft usually park in the commercial area, away from the terminal. Fencing and lighting are adequate at this facility.

A special airport police unit provides security at Abidjan's airport.

Accidents and incidents

* November 23, 1996: Hijackers forced Ethiopian Airlines Flight 961, bound from Mumbai and Addis Ababa to Abidjan through many stops, to crash into the Indian Ocean.
* January 30, 2000: Kenya Airways Flight 431 was originally intended to fly from Nairobi to Lagos to Abidjan, but the flight diverted to Abidjan. The aircraft hit the water after takeoff to Lagos.
* May 5, 2007: Kenya Airways Flight 507 originated in Abidjan and had stopped in Douala. After takeoff from Douala the aircraft crashed.
