Susann McDonald

Susann McDonald is a Distinguished Professor of Music at Indiana University-Bloomington in the Jacobs School of Music, which has the largest harp department in the world. She is the artistic director of the World Harp Congress and the honorary president of the Association Internationale des Harpistes [http://info.music.indiana.edu/sb/page/normal/196.html] . From 1975 to 1985 she was the head of the harp department at the Juilliard School of Music, and she is the founder and music director of the USA International Harp Competition [http://www.indiana.edu/~alldrp/members/mcdonalds.html] .

Throughout her career as a recording artist, concert harpist and teacher, she has influenced countless harpists. Many Principal Harp positions in large orchestras are held by her former students [http://mypage.iu.edu/~mcdonald/students.html] .
