Professor John C. Bravman serves as the Freeman-Thornton Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, Dean of the Freshman-Sophomore College, and Bing Centennial Professor of
Materials Science and Engineering atStanford University .Professor Bravman earned his Bachelor's ('79), Master's ('81) and Ph.D. ('85) degrees from Stanford in Materials Science & Engineering. Professor Bravman has received several awards, including the Gores Award for Excellence in Teaching, Stanford University's highest honor for teaching. He has been a freshman adviser or resident fellow every year for the past 24 years. In his spare time, Professor Bravman enjoys photography, cooking, and discussing politics and economics.
