"fear" is an album by Toad the Wet Sprocket released in 1991.the album was preceded by the single "Is It For Me", which failed to chart well. a second single, "Hold Her Down" was deemed too angry and many stations passed on it.

Its best known single,the third radio release "All I Want", which reached #15 on the Billboard Hot 100, helped launch their career. On November 6, 1992, "fear" was certified gold and on September 1, 1994, it was certified platinum. The "Fear" sessions yielded over an albums worth of material that never made it to the CD, some of the outtakes included "Are We Afraid", "So Alive", "Good Intentions", "Francesca", "Cover Me", "Walking Awake", "Hobbit On The Rocks", and "All In All"

Several of these outtakes were used as b-sides to the singles from "Fear" and later appeared on the bands 1995 raraties compilation "In Light Syrup"
