"The Red Shoes" is a song written and recorded by musician Kate Bush. It was the third single released from, and is the title track of, the album "The Red Shoes".

"The Red Shoes" was released April 4, 1994 and made it to number 21 in the UK Singles Chart. The song is about a girl who puts on a pair of enchanted ballet slippers and can't stop dancing until she breaks the spell. It's inspired by a character in the Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger film "The Red Shoes".

"The Red Shoes" was a two-part single release. The B-Side of the first part was "You Want Alchemy", with the video mix of "Cloudbusting" and "This Woman's Work" appearing on the CD single. The second part was more dance-orientated, featuring a 10 minute remix of "The Red Shoes", renamed "Shoedance", "The Big Sky" (Special Single Mix) and the 12" mix of "Running Up That Hill".
