This is a yet-unnamed "Powelliphanta" species, provisionally known as "Powelliphanta" "Garibaldi". This is one of the amber snails. It is an undescribed species of large, carnivorous land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusc in the family Rhytididae.

Distribution

The snail is endemic to the South Island of New Zealand.

hell description

This unnamed species has a compact rounded appearance, and the apex is low. The shell is a glossy brown-olive-green colour, with a dark brown, smooth parietal callus. The colour of the mucous and mantle is faint blue.

Major diameter is up to 38 mm, and height up to 18 mm.

Conservation status

This unnamed snail is classified as "Range Restricted" by the New Zealand Threat Classification System.

Predators and other threats

The following species are threats to the survival of this snail: thrushes, hedgehogs, hares, chamois, goats, and red deer.
