- Alwyn Bramley Moore
Alywn Bramley Moore (born: 1878 – died:
April 4 ,1916 ) was a politician and soldier fromAlberta ,Canada .Moore won election to the
Legislative Assembly of Alberta in the 1909 Alberta general election. In that election he would defeat future MLA James Lowery in a lanslide victory. He represented the new provincial electoral district of Alexandria for theAlberta Liberal Party . He would only serve 1 term in the provincial legislature as a backbencher retiring before the 1913 Alberta general election.After Moore retired from provincial politics he went overseas to fight in
World War I . While fighting in the war he was shot by a German sniper in March 1916 and died in hospital onApril 4 ,1916 . After his death a portrait of Alwyn was commissioned by PremierArthur Lewis Sifton and was displayed in the legislature for many years.Moore has almost become a cult hero to modern day Alberta separatists for his many quotations and writings on exploitation of Alberta by eastern Canada. The Edmonton Journal has declared him, "Alberta's first separatist".
