Rampage is the twenty-fourth episode in the of the popular American crime drama "". The episode, when shown on May 15, 2006 was delayed by 20 minutes following a live presidential address.

ummary

The Mala Noche gang trial is obstructed when the defendant goes free with the help of the witness who is testifying. When a hit ordered by the Mala Noche gang on Horatio finds the people he loves, lives are in danger. Delko finds that an ex-lover is disturbing any woman who he is now close to.

Plot

As the trial of notorious Mala Noche leader Raphael Sifuentes approaches, Horatio warns his new wife, Marisol, that this case could get personal. Horatio is the one responsible for bringing Sifuentes to justice, so Marisol and the family members of those involved in the case will need a police escort for the next few days.

The trial itself starts uneventfully but takes a dramatic turn when Mala Noche member Antonio Riaz takes the stand and asks to take a closer look at one of the pieces of evidence – a gun. When the attorney obliges by bringing it closer, Riaz manages to flip it out of its case and into the air. It is caught by another gang member, Jose Truillo, who reaches under his chair for some bullets, loads the gun and shoots the nearby security guards. Horatio arrives just in time to gun Truillo down, but the other Mala Noche members have already made their getaway.

Detective Tripp immediately issues a city-wide alert to find the escape vehicle, but everyone fears what the Mala Noche could do in the meantime. Before long, the gang’s intentions become all too clear. Briefly leaving the protection of her police escort, Marisol meets up with her brother, Delko. As the pair talk, Delko notices something glinting from the balcony of a nearby building. Suddenly, shots ring out and both are wounded – Delko in the arm and Marisol more seriously, in the abdomen. On hearing the news, Horatio rushes to her side and joins her in the ambulance that has arrived on the scene. But en route to the hospital, they are stopped in their tracks by a large black car blocking the road. Horatio understands what is happening.

“They’re here for me,” he calmly explains to the ambulance driver. Kissing Marisol, he steps out of the ambulance to face two gunmen. Can Horatio avenge the harm done to those close to him or will he and his new wife both pay the ultimate price for his dedication to his job?
