David 'Ticky' Donovan
OBE (born 1947) is a renowned Britishkarate coach and former competitor. He has been the coach and manager of the British national karate team since 1977, winning numerous European and World championship team gold medals.He currently holds an 8th Dan black belt in
Ishinryu karate, and is based in Loughton,Essex .Achievements as competitor

Negative accusations and subsequent acquittal
In February 2006, Donovan was suspended on full pay by
Karate England , the organisation representing the English national squad, pending the results of a police investigation into claims ofracism andchild abuse . Donovan was cleared of the accusations in April 2006 and reinstated as the English national coach.ee also
