The Naked and the Dead were a short-lived but influential gothic rock/deathrock band from New York, founded in 1985. After issuing one eponymous four-song demo cassette in fall 1985, they split up. In 2001, following a revival of interest and appearances on several compilation CDs, the band self-released a collection of their 1985 studio and live recordings (later reissued via Lulu.com), and reformed during early 2002, culminating in a reunion show. The band went into hibernation again in early 2003, though they reunited for a special 20th anniversary concert at NYC's Drop Dead Festival in October 2005, and plan to eventually record their 2002 material. Bollman and Fasolino currently are members of Brooklyn dream-pop band Bell Hollow, while latter-day vocalist Julia Ghoulia and 2005 drummer D.W. Friend perform with The Brides.
