mollusc in the familyRhytididae , endemic to theSouth Island ofNew Zealand . It is found only at altitudes of between 2,000 and 2,500 ft from theOparara River nearKaramea , toGunner Downs south of the Heaphy River, in the South Island."Powelliphanta annectens" is a large land snail with an axial colour pattern and a granulated
parietal callus . The ground colour is reddish-brown, very closely striped with narrow streaks of claret-brown, sepia, and black.Major diameter is up to 69 mm, and height up to 38 mm.
