History

The WNWS callsign was previously assigned to the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale market to a 24/7 News station located at 790 on the AM dial. The station operated in North North -Miami Dade, FL. When the station was sold off, a tombstone was placed in front of the building by then WIOD talk show host Neal Rogers to mark the significance the station had in the area over the years it operated. WNWS was killed as a callsign and Paxson picked up the station during his radio run before PAX TV (now iON), WHQT Hot 105 and WLVE Love 94 still remain with Cox.
