Osseo Junior High School

Osseo Junior High School is a public junior high school located in Osseo, Minnesota, on 10223 93rd Avenue North.The principal is Mr. Michael Thomas and the assistant principal is Mrs. Dianne Thomas; who does not allow low cut shirts, or sagging pants.

chool Overview

Osseo Junior High is part of the Osseo Area School District 279 and is one of four junior high schools in the District. It has student population of 1255 of which 1% are Native American, 2% are hispanic, 5% are Asian, 13% are black, and 80% are white. The first site of Osseo Junior High School was in the East Wing of the High School building. The Junior High was located there from 1961-65. In 1966, OJH moved into a new building several hundred yards to the west, which it still occupies today. The building received additions in 1969 and 2004.

Academic Assessment

The school was ranked 57th out of 229 public middle school in Minnesota. Osseo Junior High School and Maple Grove Junior High School (which was ranked 39th out 229) were the only Osseo Area School District 279 junior high schools to make the top 100 middle schools in the state. The school did not make the AYP for the 2005-2006 school year.

Osseo Junior High School's main rival is Maple Grove Junior High and the rivalry between the two junior high schools reflects that of the rivalry between the two senior high schools-Osseo Senior High School and Maple Grove Senior High School. Because of the proximity of Osseo Junior High School and Osseo Senior High School and also because of the heated rivalry, the majority of Osseo residents choose to go to Osseo Senior High School. Osseo Junior High also takes great pride in the senior high's football team; especially during recent times, as OJH completely slaughtered maple grove in the 2008 homecoming game.
