- Bronisław Chromy
Bronisław Chromy (born 1925) is a Polish sculptor, medallist, painter, and draughtsman, and a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. Chromy is a Member of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Letters. He was born at Lencze near Lanckorona in 1925, he was educated at the Secondary School of Fine Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, graduating in 1956. He was a student of Xawery Dunikowski.
His works are in the collections of theWarsaw National Museum ,Kraków National Museum , Museum of Medal Art in Wrocław andAuschwitz-Birkenau Museum , Paris, Copenhagen, Moscow, Skopje, Helsinki, Barcelona, Dijon, Ravenna, Hasselt, Bochum, Arezzo.
The most famous his work are: "Smok Wawelski " (The Wawel Dragon), "Monument toPiwnica pod Baranami " (Cracow), "Dżok - the Dog" (Cracow), "Monument toPope John Paul II " (Tarnów), "Auschwitz series": "The wall of death" and "Pieta".
He is one of the Co-founder ofPiwnica pod Baranami cabaret.
Professor Bronisław Chromy has his own Gallery in Cracow (in Decjusz Park).
