King Tiglatpalasar III (745-727 b.c.e.) achieved several crushing victoriesagainst the troops of
Ararat king Sarduri II and captured the territories of northernMesopotamia and northernSyria ,which were part of Ararat. This was followed by the struggle for the regions near Lake Kaputan (Urmia). In 714 b.c.e.Assyrian king Sargon II conducted a devastating campaign againstArarat , which was then reigned by king Rusa I. As aresult of defeats fromAssyria and others, and uprisings of the rulers of regions, Ararat lost the significant part of itsterritory.
