The iRecord is the first generation of products released by
Streaming Networks Inc designed to facilitate and optimize the transfer of data (typically in the form of videos, music and pictures) from an analog or digital medium to a compressed digital form, making it easily storable on any flash-storage device such as the iPhone, iPod, PSP or a USB stick. The first generation of the iRecord was released in October 2006. The unique feature of this product is its removal of a computer intermediary for this process and the fact that it can capture information from amost any source even a VHS or tape recorder. This would free the user from dependence on a particular software application; for instance, a user wishing to move video data to an iPod from aPersonal Video Recorder (PVR) would no longer have to rely onApple Computer 'siTunes . iRecord's primary advantages over its recently-arrived competitors are its video and audio quality, which include support for theH.264 andMPEG-4 standards.Streaming Network has announced that it will release the next generation of the iRecord, the iRecord Pro on July 11th 2008.
