Characters in Resident Evil 2

This article lists fictional characters in the "Resident Evil 2" survival horror video game.

Leon S. Kennedy

Claire Redfield

Ada Wong

herry Birkin

sent by Umbrella to retrieve the G-Virus hidden inside her locket.

In the character-specific epilogues featured in "" it is revealed that she was picked up by the military after escaping the city with Leon and Claire, and was then taken into custody by the US government. However, in the fictional documentary "Wesker's Report", Wesker states that Sherry is "safe in our hands".

Sherry will be making a reappearance in "Resident Evil 5". It is possible she is the woman in the test tube who wakes up in the trailer. The latest trailer of the upcoming game also briefly features a young blonde woman wearing a red dress who is rumoured to be Sherry. Annette Birkin

Dr. Annette Birkin (voiced by Jennifer Dale) is a scientist for the Umbrella Corporation, as well as the wife of William and Sherry's mother. She plays an important role in the game, but her attitude toward Leon/Ada and Claire/Sherry differs. She cooperates with Claire when her daughter is in danger, and in the "Claire A" scenario, provides her with documents that help Claire to create a G-Virus vaccine to cure Sherry. In contrast, she is openly hostile toward Leon and Ada; during the course of the game, Annette shoots Leon (and Ada, too, in the Leon A scenario) - although she fails to kill either. Her death also differs: if the player follows the Claire A/Leon B path, Annette is killed by her mutated husband. If the player follows the Leon A/Claire B path, Annette is fatally wounded by falling debris.

Ben Bertolucci

Ben Bertolucci (voiced by Rod Wilson) is a freelance journalist who has a prominent role in Leon's half of the game. Leon and Ada first meet Ben after he has locked himself in one of the precinct's holding cells and refuses to divulge any information. Later, the G-Type finds a way into his cell and he is fatally injured or infected with the G-Virus. While dying, he provides Leon with a copy of Birkin's e-mails to Chief Irons, which details the dealings between the two. As soon as he tells Leon to avenge him a G-Larvae tears open his chest, killing him instantly.

He reappears in "", in which he has a small role within the "Desperate Times" scenario. He provides the player a puzzle piece, required for an escape attempt, in exchange for Irons' account information, which details large donations contributed by the Umbrella Corporation.

Brian Irons

Brian Irons (voiced by Gary Krawford) is the city's corrupt Chief of Police and appears only in Claire's half of the game. Claire first meets the Chief in his office with the recently deceased body of the Mayor's daughter on his desk. He later disappears from the office and leaves behind his diary, in which he describes his desire to hunt down the Mayor's daughter and use her body as a stuffed trophy.

Irons was responsible for the deaths of several officers when he went insane and hunted them. Additional documents also reveal that the character was previously accused, but never convicted, of sexual assault and had been taking bribes from Umbrella, particularly from William Birkin. Claire confronts Irons one last time in a hidden room behind his office before he is killed by the mutated Birkin, either because he injects the G-Virus embryo or by being torn apart.

William Birkin

Marvin Branagh

Marvin Branagh is a Raccoon Police Department officer whom the player meets after their arrival at the precinct. The character is not named until "Resident Evil 3: Nemesis", in which he briefly appears also. Marvin, already suffering from a fatal wound and succumbing to the T-Virus, urges the player to locate any survivors and provides them with a card key before locking himself inside the west office and becoming a zombie.

Marvin Branagh was originally intended to be a major supporting character who aided Leon in the prototype version of "Resident Evil 2" along with Ada, but in the end was turned into a minor character who gets killed off early in the story. Branagh also plays a supporting role in "Resident Evil Outbreak: File 2".

Robert Kendo

Robert Kendo is a gun shop owner whom the player encounters at the beginning of the first scenario. He offers the player refuge by allowing them to stay inside the gun shop. Moments later, zombies break through the window of the store and kill him. Additional in-game documents featured in "Resident Evil 3: Nemesis" reveal that Kendo was the weapons supplier for STARS and that his brother Joe designed their sidearm, the Samurai Edge. In addition, Kendo is revealed to be a close friend of Barry Burton, according to a file in the Nintendo 64 version of the game. The Kendo Gun Shop logo is visible on Leon's default gun in "Resident Evil 4".

Like Marvin before him, Robert was originally meant to be a major character in "Resident Evil 1.5" who aided Elza Walker (the prototype version of Claire Redfield), before being turned into a minor character.

HUNK

HUNK Also known as Mr. Death, is a member of the Umbrella Special Forces Unit in "Resident Evil 2".

HUNK appears in "Resident Evil 2" as the protagonist in a secret minigame entitled 'The 4th Survivor.' This short scenario entails HUNK's journey to escape Raccoon City, beginning with his awakening in the sewers and eventually leading to his extraction from the city. He is the only member of his unit to survive the attack of the mutated William Birkin that takes place shortly after his team-mates have secured samples of the G-Virus for Umbrella.cite video game|title= |developer=Capcom |publisher=Capcom |date=2007-11-13 |platform=Wii |version= |level= Fourth Survivor |language=English |isolang= |quote=HUNK Profile (Archive): He has carried out a large number of successful operations, many of which he was the only one to return alive from, earning HUNK the nickname "Grim Reaper." He is a member of Umbrella Special Forces and was the operative that single-handedly retrieved the G-virus despite the rest of his unit being wiped out by the G creature that used to be William Birkin.] The minigame requires the player to reach an extraction point, while given a limited amount of ammunition to get past a large number of enemies. An epilogue screen in ' later details a conversation between HUNK and the helicopter pilot that extracted him. [cite video game|title= |developer=Capcom Production Studio 4 |publisher=Capcom |date=1999-09-22 |platform=PlayStation |language=English |isolang= |quote=Epilogue:"' "Once again, only you survived, Mr. Death," the chopper pilot speaks with a cold bitterness.”Always, only you, survive, Mr. Death," the pilot continues. But Hunk does not respond to the pilot. He doesn't care. “The Death cannot die...," the survivor thinks to himself with a warm smile.]

He is in "Umbrella Chronicles" in "4th Survivor" where the player must reach the helipad for extraction from Raccoon City. [Damien Waples, "Hunk" and "HUNK Profile," "Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles Prima Official Game Guide" (Roseville: Prima Games, 2007), 21, 128.] He is voiced by Keith Silverstein.

HUNK is also playable in the "The Mercenaries" minigame in Resident Evil 4.

Tofu

Tofu is the main character in the minigame Tofu Survivor. He is a big piece of tofu who initially has the same mission as HUNK. He is only equipped with a knife and other random herbs.
