George Starkey (actor)

George Andrew Starkey (born December 16, 1963 in Hayward, California) is an American film actor.

Born in Hayward, California, Starkey's family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana when he was seven years old.

A graduate of Bishop Chatard High School in 1981 (having skipped a grade in elementary school for exemplary academic achievement), Starkey attended IUPUI, where he worked as a stagehand for the school's local community-based stage theater, and later Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.

In 2004, Starkey portrayed "Star Wars" creator George Lucas in the independent film, "Saving Star Wars", written and directed by Gary Wood. Starkey co-starred with "Star Wars" actor David Prowse, who portrayed himself in the film.

In 2005, Starkey starred in another Gary Wood independent release, " [http://www.woodworksfilms.com/html/om.html Open Mic'rs] ".

In 2006, Starkey portrayed George Lucas in the 2006 Official Star Wars Fan Film entry, " [http://www.atomfilms.com/film/pitching_lucas.jsp Pitching Lucas] ". The short film was the overall winner of the 2006 awards, being first to win the "George Lucas Selects" and "Audience Selects" awards in the same year.

Starkey attends several science fiction conventions throughout the year, primarily as an attendee and not a guest. Starkey's likeness to George Lucas confuses some attendees during his attendance at these functions.

Starkey currently resides in Indianapolis. His hobbies include bicycling, home repair & maintenance, model kit and prop replica building, and keeping the local squirrel population well fed.
