Edward Darlington (
September 17 ,1795 -November 21 ,1884 ) was anAnti-Masonic member of theU.S. House of Representatives fromPennsylvania .Edward Darlington (cousin of
Isaac Darlington andWilliam Darlington ) was born inWest Chester, Pennsylvania . He moved in early youth with his parents toDelaware County, Pennsylvania . He taught school from 1817 to 1820. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1821 and commenced practice inChester, Pennsylvania , and served as deputy attorney general from 1824 to 1830.Darlington was elected as an Anti-Masonic candidate to the Twenty-third through Twenty-fifth Congresses. He was chairman of the
United States House Committee on Expenditures on Public Buildings during the Twenty-fourth Congress. He was not a candidate for renomination in 1838. He resumed the practice of law and served as attorney for county commissioners from 1846 to 1856. He moved toMedia, Pennsylvania , in 1851 and served as district attorney of Delaware County from 1851 to 1854. He died in Media and was interred in Chester Rural Cemetery in Chester, Pennsylvania.ources
