- Blue Dog Records
Blue Dog Records, although an independent record label, was affiliated to Branson’s V2 and was active in the 90’s with a mostly guitar band roster of artists including ‘The Crocketts’, 'Daytona', 'Contempo', 'Shit, only ten minutes to get to Ledbury', 'The Mumbles Rangers', the shamefully passed by ‘Super j Lounge’ and the rather seminal [in more ways than one] but never signed 'Billyshot'. The London based label was based in an office above the original Barfly at The Falcon (pub), where many of the acts would showcase their new songs. "There were times on a Friday night at the Barfly that you really felt you were there, right there, right in the middle of everything that could possibly matter both musically and culturally"." And then Nick Moore and B Rozzo (ex ‘Das Psycho Rangers’) would show up, their mugs, "beaming with both an unsurpassed musical discernment and childlike excitement, Sarah Whithers at their side with that great mind of hers, and then you really knew....you were there, right there where it really mattered". Big names can thank the Barfly as the venue where they were able to ‘cut their rug’. Even sad cock rock like the Stereophonics were sometimes let in to bore fans with their overcooked chowder. “We made the odd mistake” Said Fly magazine founder Matthew Senior. The offices themselves and the resident jungle frogs were gloriously barbecued by a rather lashed Nick the booker in 96 only to be resurrected in what will always be remembered as the only real hotbed to exist in a true independent London Arena. Well, anyway – The hot Matthew S and Patch of the Fly Mag; what happened to those two Pioneers? There are rumors’ that Nick Moore, the founder of both the Blue Dog label and The Barfly venue is planning a return to the Music Industry. "Thank the Maker"!"
