Kodurupaka

Kodurupaka, one of the oldest villages in the Karimnagar district of Andhra Pradesh, India, lies exactly 21 km away from Karimnagar, located on the highway from Karimnagar to Vemulawada. The place can be reached by boarding any one of Vemulawada, Sircilla or Kamareddy buses that start from the karimnagar bus stand and are frequently scheduled.

The actual place of interest is not exactly at the Kodurupaka Stage, but the entire village is concentrated deep inside, which is 2 km away from the main road.

The most common occupation of the people here was agriculture and rice was the main crop. But now adays, this area is facing serious drought. Due to this these days we find people harvesting mainly cotton and maize.

The village is located on the banks of a river which is the same river from Vemulawada. This was the major source of water for these people serving for all purposes for house hold and for agriculture. It has been many years since, these people have seen any drops of water in this river now a days..

The village has lots of greenery, the people here are very friendly. Very interesting thing is that still many people here depend upon palm trees. These people are called Gouds. There are thousands of palm trees on the banks of the kodurupaka river which even today stay as the main source of income for the Gouds.

There are many evidences in this village that show the living style of the kakatiya's who ruled the telangana region long back.

Another important highlight of this place is that it is well know for its rich production of various types of vegetables. This place is popularly known for its variety of Leafy vegetables.The Karimnagar RTC has dedicated a special bus every day early in the morning at 4Am, only to bring vegetables to the town.

The most sad thing about this village is that it is going to remain as a name only in the Karimnagar history. This is because this place is soon getting destroyed under the Sri Ram Sagar Project that covers almost 14 villages.
