Ila Kumar (born 1 March 1956) is a renowned Indian poet. Along with poems she has written a novel and a book on gardening. Her official name is Kavita Kumar.

Life

She was born ,brought up and did her schooling at Muzaffarpur,Bihar. After finishing high school she did her bachelors in science with Physics as her major. She did her Masters in X-Ray,Physics from University of Bihar.After getting married her education career came to a standstill for some time. Later she did B.Ed and then LLB from Nagpur,Maharashtra,India.During all these years she was an active writer too. She wrote her first poem at an early age of 13. She has done freelancing for 3-4 years. Also did a research on the life of Adiwasi’s of Singhbhum (the aborigines of India).

She was married to Mritieunjay Kumar on Feb 20, 1977. Coincidently she and her husband share their birthdates. Her husband works for Railways and they spent lot of time traveling from one city to another.
