Nawwaf bin Abdul Aziz

Nawwaf bin Abdul Aziz

Nawwaf bin Abdul Aziz is a close ally, senior advisor to, and half brother of, Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah. A former Minister of Finance (1961-1962), he also served as King Faisal's Special Advisor for Gulf Affairs for several years.

Prince Nawwaf has amassed considerable business interests, with an emphasis on real estate development, and was, briefly, Director General of the Al Mukhabarat Al A'amah, Saudi Arabia's General Intelligence Directorate, before a stroke caused him to retire prematurely.

Nawwaf's mother was of Armenian decent and his only full living brother is Talal bin Abdul Aziz. Though he is among the 10 oldest living sons of the late King Abdul Aziz ibn Saud, it is unlikely that he has a legitimate claim as a candidate for Saudi Arabia's line of succession, due to extended periods away from positions in government and, possibly, his Armenian (non-Arab) heritage.
