Andrew Fryer

Andrew Fryer (b.1960) is an English record producer, recording engineer, songwriter and recording artist. He is a member of the Celtic band Ceredwen, whose album "Legends of the Celts" featured on the "Billboard" charts for 3 months and has won 3 NAV awards (Real Music, 1997).

After gaining the Tonmeister degree in music with applied physics from the University of Surrey, Andrew Fryer worked as a music editor for Polydor Records in London. Returning to his native Suffolk he set up a recording studio with Dolly Mixture and Adrian "Percy Pavilion" Wykes where he produced many local artists, including the notorious skate-core band The Stupids.

After producing a John Peel BBC Radio 1 session for The Stupids, he became studio manager for Warner Chappell Music where he co-write songs for signed artists such as Billie Ray Martin and Shara Nelson, as well as writing theme music for BBC radio. He also worked as an independent producer for Vinyl Solution, Demon, Red Rhino and TVT, producing albums for Bolt Thrower, The Jack Rubies, The Space Maggots, Perfect Daze, The Wood Children, Playing at Trains, The Abs, The Cateran and The Stupids, as well as the top 10 single "One Summer" by The Moss Poles.

He formed the dance label Futurasound with Gilbert Gabriel from The Dream Academy, co-producing and co-writing the top 10 dance singles "Call My Name" and "Reminiscence", featuring Ally Kennen from Way Out West and Mia Silvas.

He has worked with PP Arnold, Chaka Khan, Alexander O'Neil, the James Brown band, Billy Bragg, David Grey, KT Tunstall, John Hegley, Republica, Dido, Martine McCutcheon, Dolly Mixture, Fuzzbox, Xmal Deutschland, Jeff Beck, Peter Perrett, Glen Matlock, Airhead, EMF, Jhelisa, Dot Allison, Blak Twang, Estelle, Lyndon David Hall, Tanita Tikaram, New Model Army, Kevin Sharkey, David Arnold, David Heneker, Tommy Steele, Ned Sherrin, Sammy Cahn, The Darkness and John Shuttleworth. He is signed to Warner Chappell Music as a songwriter and to Real Music as a recording artist.

He is currently lecturing in Music Technology and Composition at Leeds Metropolitan University.

His sister is the BBC Radio 3 broadcaster Louise Fryer.
