Životice (Havířov)

) is a village in Karviná District, Moravian-Silesian Region, Czech Republic. It was a separate municipality but after the expansion of the city of Havířov created in 1955 it became administratively a part of this city in 1960. It has a population of 1,064 (2007). It is well-known for most notorious Nazi World War II war crime in Zaolzie area - the Żywocice tragedy. It was a murder of 36 villagers, mostly local Poles, in and around the village on 6 August 1944. This massacre is known as Tragedia Żywocicka in Polish or Životická tragédie in Czech.

There is a memorial commemorating that tragedy built in the village. It was designed by Polish architect Franciszek Świder and inaugurated on 25 September 1949.
