Book TV

:"For the Canadian specialty channel, see BookTelevision"

"Book TV" is the collective name for weekend programming about upcoming and established authors broadcast by C-SPAN on the C-SPAN2 channel. On most weekends, that channel transitions from its usual public-affairs programming on Friday night, and remains as "Book TV" until the following Monday morning (Usually 8am Eastern Saturday morning to 8am Eastern Monday morning). Some "Book TV" programs and events are also broadcast during congressional breaks when normal coverage of the United States Senate (C-SPAN2's main mission) is not necessary.

"Book TV" covers a wide array of subjects. The majority of content is about political subjects in keeping with its C-SPAN origin, but it also features numerous scientific, artistic and cultural books. It often provides live or tape-delayed coverage of book fairs, signings, and readings by authors.

One of the most notable "Book TV" programs is called "In Depth". "In Depth" is a three-hour one-on-one interview that covers the author's entire body of work. A new "In Depth" program, with live viewer phone calls, airs on the first Sunday of each month. Past guests have included Noam Chomsky, Milton Friedman, Niall Ferguson, Stanley Crouch and John Keegan.
