John J. McGraw (Born 1974) is an American writer and philosopher. He is the author of "Brain & Belief: An Exploration of the Human Soul" (Aegis Press 2004, ISBN 0-9747645-0-7).
Biography
John J. McGraw was born in
Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1974. McGraw studied atCascia Hall Preparatory School ,Phillips Exeter Academy ,Stanford University , and theUniversity of California, San Diego . McGraw received a B.A. in Psychology, Philosophy, and Religious Studies fromStanford University , and is in pursuit of a PhD in Anthropology and Cognitive Science at theUniversity of California, San Diego . In "Brain & Belief: An Exploration of the Human Soul", McGraw incorporates experiences from his work in psychiatric hospitals, medical research, and his extensive studies in religion and philosophy. This work is heavily influence byErnest Becker ,Weston LaBarre , andRichard Evans Schultes . It received a silver award in thephilosophy category for Foreword Magazine's 2004 Book of the Year Awards competition.
