António Jacinto, full name António Jacinto do Amaral Martins, born in
Luanda ,Angola 28 September 1924 , died23 June 1991 inLisbon ,Portugal , was an Angolan poet.Biography
After having obtained his license in
Luanda , he started working as acivil servant . He stood out as a protesting poet, and as a result of his politicalmilitancy , was arrested and sent to the Tarrafal concentration camp in Cape Verde from 1960 to 1972. He was then transferred to Lisbon where, on parole, he worked as anaccountant . He escaped in 1973 to join the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola. As soon as independence was declared in 1975 and until 1978, he carried out the function of Minister of Education and CulturalSecretary of State .Bibliographie non exhaustive
