Review

A quick look at some incredibly impressive credits. Leroy Hutson graduated with a bachelor in music from Howard University, 1970. While still an undergraduate he co-wrote “The Ghetto” with room mate Donny Hathaway. He also wrote “Trying Times” for Roberta Flack, “Je Vous Aime Beaucoup” for Hathaway and “Gone Away,” co-authored with Curtis Mayfield and Donny Hathaway.

Three months out of college he was asked to replace Curtis Mayfield as lead singer of The Impressions. He stayed with them for two and a half standing ovation years before amicably leaving to pursue his own career as a writer, producer, arranger, musician.

In 1973 he wrote, produced, arranged and recorded his first solo Album, “Love Oh Love”. He also wrote and produced “Giving Love” for the Voice of East Harlem and did the same for the hit single by the Natural Four, “Can This Be Real.”

Can Leroy Hutson be real? He sure can. One listen to this, his second LP, “The Man!” Will convince you that Leroy Hutson is a Fantastic writer, performer, producer, arranger and soon to be… Superstar!
