prelate of theRoman Catholic Church . He currently serves as coadjutor archbishop of theArchdiocese of Vancouver . He was appointed to this post on June 1, 2007 byPope Benedict XVI . Until his recent appointment as Coadjutor Archbishop of Vancouver he served as Secretary of theCongregation for Catholic Education for theRoman Curia . Archbishop Miller is also vice-president of thePontifical Work of Priestly Vocations , a member of thePontifical Committee for International Eucharistic Congresses and thePontifical Council for Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People , and a consultor to theCongregation for Bishops .Born in
Ottawa , Miller joined theCongregation of St. Basil in 1966 and was ordained a priest byPope Paul VI on June 29, 1975. He received a bachelor's degree in theology from St. Michael's College in the University of Toronto in 1974, alicentiate indogmatic theology from thePontifical Gregorian University inRome in 1976, and a doctoral degree from the Gregorian in 1979. From there he spent eight years at the University of Saint Thomas inHouston ,Texas . From 1992 to 1997, Miller served in the Secretariat of State of theHoly See . In 1997, Archbishop Miller returned to the University of Saint Thomas, where he served as President; it was during this tenure that Miller became a naturalized American citizen on March 28, 2003.On
November 25 ,2003 ,Pope John Paul II appointed him Titular Archbishop ofVertara , in addition to his aforementioned work with the Congregation for Catholic Education. Miller received his episcopal consecration onJanuary 12 ,2004 from Zenon Cardinal Grocholewski, with BishopsJoseph Fiorenza andRonald Peter Fabbro , CSB, serving as co-consecrators.As coadjutor archbishop, Miller serves alongside the current Archbishop of Vancouver,
Raymond Roussin . As Secretary, Miller served as the second-highest official in thatdicastery , under Cardinal Grocholewski.References
