- War Drobe
War Drobe was thought by
Mr. Tumnus inC. S. Lewis ' novel "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe " to be a city in the country of "Spare oom " or "spare room",Lucy Pevensie 's "home country".In reality it is the apple-wood wardrobe of Professor
Digory Kirke , containing the portal to Narnia for the Pevensie children. Passing through the wardrobe provides passage between the United Kingdom and the Lantern Waste of Narnia. There is some indications that the wardrobe may have been constructed from the wood of an apple tree, which was planted atop the burial site of the magic rings used to access the Wood Between the Worlds, using the core of a magic apple brought from Narnia. (
The Magician's Nephew ,The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe )Paul F. Ford calls it a clever way for Lewis to show how words are really symbols. In another instance, the animals in "
The Magician's Nephew " mishearAslan 's statement that an evil has entered Narnia, thinking that he said "A Neevil".References
