- Schoortasche
The Schoortasche, also called "Scoor Dutch" or "Schoor Dutch" refers to the people and culture of the
Hudson River Valley who are of Dutch or mixed Dutch ancestry. They may also be called simply Hudson Valley Dutch. They are descended from the poorest classes and of their nativeHolland and other southern and insular provinces of the formerUnited Netherlands .The term appears to be a compound of "scoor" or "schoor", meaning "laborsome" or "hard-working" and "Tasche", meaning "Dutch", in the dialect.
